About Katie

My name is Katie Miller, and I've been weaving for twenty years. I live in Decatur, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, where I weave in my home studio.

I was trained in the Appalachian style of weaving and my passion is preserving this craft. While the beauty and versatility of the goods woven in this tradition is what primarily interests me, I've also studied traditional Southwestern American tapestry in New Mexico. In addition, I've studied with Madelyn van der Hoogt at the Weaver's School on Whidbey Island near Seattle, Washington. I am a member of the Chattahoochee Handweaver's Guild.

All items are woven on my two floor looms, an 8 shaft Glimakra and an 8 shaft Macomber .
